LASTC 2012 -2013 Ballot

President

Karen Bergen

Karen has been active in LASTC for over 20 years and has held several offices in addition to President. She was named an Associate Follow of STC in 2004 and also managed the Spotlight Awards (Southern California Technical Communication Competition) for three years. Karen has worked for Epson America since 1993, developing award-winning instructions for printers, projectors, and other products.

First Vice President, Programs

Pam Wilkes

Pam has been a member of LASTC for over 15 years, and has served on the council as Programs VP and Public Relations Manager. She is currently Co-Programs VP. In the past, most of her technical communications experience has been working with software development organizations. She hosts the monthly LASTC Culver City Lunchtime Forum and hopes that members and non-members continue to take advantage of that great networking opportunity. Pam is currently “on sabbatical” from technical communication, concentrating on an extensive house remodel.

Second Vice President, Membership

Jeff Kreger

Jeff is a new arrival to the technical communication field, and joined STC in 2011 to network with other communicators in the area. As a council volunteer, he has worked on creating webinars, attended local trade shows, and started a new lunchtime forum in Burbank. He’s also a member of the Southern California Spotlight Awards committee, and recently earned a certificate in Technical Communications from UC San Diego.

Jeff currently works as a sales rep for several hospitality industry magazines and websites, and has nearly 20 years experience in print advertising sales, including TV Guide, Parade, Harvard Business Review, and AARP. Jeff looks forward to continuing his enthusiastic support for his new career path and STC, and encouraging all technical communicators in the area to participate in our chapter.

Treasurer

Betsy Suttle

Betsy has been a member of STC since 1998. She has served as Programs VP and President. As the Manager of Technical Communication for the SCPIE Companies, Betsy managed the company intranet, developed policies and procedures, and provided technical training. She has also worked as a systems analyst with The Doctors Company.

Secretary

Lori Carlson

Lori joined LASTC this past February. She currently serves as Web Administrator for the chapter’s new website and writes the weekly blog. Lori holds a B.A. in Biological Sciences and English, and most recently served as Technical Director for a food manufacturer. With a ten year career in Quality Assurance, Lori is no stranger to manual and policy and procedure writing. She is currently in the process of receiving a Technical Writing Certificate from UC Riverside. Lori is excited about the opportunity to serve as Secretary for LASTC.
